LDKerns provided construction services and project leadership for the Sand Springs Public Schools Administration Entry and Community Plaza project, a collaborative initiative between the City of Sand Springs and Sand Springs Public Schools that transformed a historic educational facility into a more accessible and welcoming civic destination.
The project centered on the district's Central Administrative Services facility, which occupies the former Ninth Grade Center originally constructed in the 1920s. Following the building's adaptive reuse as the district's administration center, this phase of work focused on enhancing accessibility, improving visitor experience, and strengthening the connection between the school district and the surrounding downtown community.
The improvements included the construction of a new administration entrance, reception area, elevator and stair tower, and an outdoor community plaza designed to serve as a gathering space for students, staff, and the public. Strategically located at the intersection of downtown Sand Springs and the school district campus, the plaza creates a seamless connection between the Administration Building and the City's downtown gathering area while providing a welcoming gateway to the district offices.
Funded through the City of Sand Springs 2022 General Obligation Bond Program and Sand Springs Public Schools Bond Program, the project represents a successful partnership between municipal and educational stakeholders. Through careful coordination and oversight, LDKerns helped deliver a project that preserves the character of a historic community landmark while enhancing accessibility, functionality, and public engagement for generations to come.
