Angus Valley Gym &Safe Room
This project is part of a $32.85 million bond passed by Sand Springs voters in March 2019. The building consists of a one-story 7,600sf gymnasium / safe-room addition to Angus Valley Elementary School including site work and utilities and a small connection corridor back to the main building. Construction of the addition took place during the summer and school year any connection or work that needed to happen in the existing building took place over the summer or other long holidays so as to not disrupt classes.
As Construction Manager, LDKerns worked with the owner and architect to provide pre-construction services to achieve the most cost effective, quality design and provide construction services, coordinating the trade contractors to achieve the highest quality and a safe project. We were involved in the design and construction phases of the project, such as scheduling, estimating, value engineering, constructability reviews, bidding, project management and continuous supervision for quality / cost control and safety. In addition to housing physical education activities, the building will serve as storm protection.
