Anthem Church
LDKerns was selected as Construction Manager by Anthem Church to oversee renovations of a 30 year old church building. The church had doubled in membership as two congregations had come together under one roof. It was critical to use the offerings of the church membership in the most cost effective way to accommodate new and expanded programming. From the beginning of the design phase, LDKerns worked alongside the architect to work through several design iterations. We worked not only with the church administration but also with end users to develop a cost effective design plan to meet all programming needs.
This project was the renovation of a 30+ year old structure to accommodate new and expanded programming. This challenge was addressed during pre-construction and met with a manageable budget. To achieve the owner’s goal, LDKerns was able to break out pricing for each section with several finish options that allowed the owner to select different pieces that fit into their budget.
Anthem Church continued having services while the renovations were taking place. LDKerns developed safety plans and put barriers in place to protect the members. LDKerns was able to determine proper phasing of the project that allowed for the transfer of programs in a safe and efficient manner. The phasing did not add any significant time to the overall duration of the project and allowed the owner to continue operating at 100% capacity for the duration.
Renovating a 30+ year old facility is not something we as a church do every day, so the patience with which LDKerns answered our questions and the experience they brought to the table was invaluable. From the beginning of our project David Kerns and Earl Jacks were hands on in their approach, spending many hours with us while working through potential floorplans and schematics with our architect. Preliminary budgets were created and then adjusted and formalized with their help as the renovation designs took shape and as we continued to both expand and refine the scope of the project. Throughout the duration of the project the LDKerns team did an excellent job of communicating, planning, and executing, with great commitment to the success of the finished project. When unknown challenges arose, as they will when working with aged buildings, their team delivered solutions while helping us remain on budget. When challenges arose due to the global pandemic, they also displayed care and discipline in protection of the subcontractors and church family. Through the help of LDKerns Contractor's excellent service, we are proud to show off the new Anthem Church interior, one that is both creative and appealing.
