OU Medical Culinary Teaching Kitchen
This comprehensive remodel demonstrates our dedication to enhancing educational facilities with high-quality construction and innovative design. The project involved a complete interior overhaul, including the installation of new cabinets and counter tops, as well as advanced glass and glazing work to create a modern, inviting atmosphere. We upgraded the ceilings, drywall, and light gauge framing to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.
The flooring was entirely replaced to offer durability and ease of maintenance, while our plumbing team installed a new HVAC system to guarantee optimal climate control. Our electrical team meticulously outfitted the space with state-of-the-art wiring and fixtures to support the new commercial-style kitchen, which boasts top-of-the-line appliances designed for professional culinary instruction. An adjoining conference room was also constructed, providing a versatile space for students to engage in discussions and enhance their learning experience.
The OU Culinary Medicine Program, established in 2018 as a joint initiative between the OU-TU School of Community Medicine and the OU College of Public Health, aims to teach medical students, residents, physicians, and patients the essential skills of cooking healthy, affordable meals. The program underscores the philosophy that “Food is Medicine,” promoting the health benefits of a plant-based diet. LDKerns Contractors is proud to have played a vital role in creating a facility that supports this innovative program, contributing to the improvement of community health through the power of food.
